Do home improvements count as deprivation of capital?

Our driveway is cracking up quite badly and I would like to get a loan to cover the cost of replacing it. Am I be allowed to do this if I'm on contribution based IB and receive DLA? Hubby is still working.

Neither of your benefits are means-tested so deprivation of capital wouldn't be an issue.0

The situation may change in the future when you get moved from IB to ESA but I still don't think getting a loan to redo a driveway - or other essential home improvements - would count as deprivation of capital.0

Ok, that's good news. There's a lot of work that needs to be done on the house but i've always been worried about doing anything, but some things, like the drive, need to be done.0
