what do the 'Sector' plots on H-L mean?

    It might be an average, just not an average of the funds that HL offer.

    If there are other gilt funds included in the sector weighting that outperformed, but aren't offered by HL, then that would explain this entirely.

    So where do the 'Sector' plots on H-L come from? Are they objective industry-wide figures? Will they be skewed by unavailable institutional funds?
    I was deliberately vague on this in my answer because I don't actually know. :)

    I reckon they're published by an independent body other than HL, thus they should be directly comparable between different compaines - but I'm afraid I've never actually looked into it.
