Leave British Gas?
Options
Hi, 18 months ago I moved to British Gas because they were the cheapest provider according to the comparison sites.
Anyway, I've seen the headlines recently about BG increasing their prices 20%.
So, I went back to the Comparison site provider Energylinx and crunched the numbers again. Obviously, BG are no longer top of the tree in terms of price.
So, should I move to cheapest bidder - in my case: EDF Online S@ver Version 10?
Or will they increase prices 20% in 2-3 months?...and thus changing will be a waste of time because of the admin involved.
Is the trick to just stay with your energy provider whilst they are the best value and then just leave when prices go up?

Just been reading the other post on this.
So, as I understand it, BG were due a price increase because their prices had been lower than everyone else's for some time.
So, all I have to do is go over to EDF now (prices fixed til Sept 2012)?
Sorry, bit slow with this stuff but getting there in the end.0 -
I can't offer help, but will be watching this thread, as I am in the same boat as you opThe opposite of what you know...is also true0

Also, can anyone tell me: if I were to go with EDF til Sep 2012, there's no chance that a provider would drop their prices in that period is there?
I can't say I've heard of providers dropping their prices..?
Do providers suddenly drop prices to tempt in customers?0 -
Little point in switching to an EDF variable tariiff now, as they will increase their prices shortly in line with SP and BG.
Better to consider one of the 2 EDF fixed tariffs that are still available at reasonable premiums-one you have already mentioned, the other is the Fixed Price 2014.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
