Overdraft application gone bad

Options
Hi guys

I recently applied for a Natwest current account with an overdraft through their online aplication system and they ran a credit search on me then. Then i received a pack asking me to go in brach or post them my identification documents. So i took in my passport to their branch to get it verified. Only a couple of hours later i get a call from the branch saying that my application has been rejected. And when I go online and check my equifax credit report i find out that they have run another search on me. Now I have 2 credit searched run on me in a period of 2 weeks for the same product.

Can anyone advise me as to what i can do to get this corrected?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

You can raise an online query with equifax who will approach the bank to remove one of the searches, unless they argue one was for the account and a separate one is for the overdraft. Other option is to contact the bank about it. They probably won't give an overdraft because of the lack of credit history, once you have an account for a while they may be able to do it then.

To be honest getting rid of our OD and paying it off was the best feeling ever and if I could tell my younger self not to ever take one out I would. But I don't know your position/age etc-I prefer saving and having that to fall back on.

    Good luck
