If I've copied an audio folder and a video folder from a DVD on to my computer and I write it on to another DVD will it play OK?
A friend sent me a copy of their wedding DVD but I had to send it back to them again cos it was very expensive for them to get enough made just for their families. I haven't got a DVD RW but my dad has so if I copy them over to his laptop and write to a new DVD will it work???

You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an
"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs

Yes you should Have a AUDIO_TS folder and a VIDEO_TS folder.
Audio will be empty and video will have vob files IFO & BUP files.
Just burn these as data files in your chosen software.0 -
I did the above method for a neighbour but the sound & vision did not sync in the copied versions and the beginning was missing from 1 clip. So I instead tried a "Copy Whole DVD" option on my software - this worked, but was not playable on some older DVD players, maybe to do with the RW- and RW+ issues.
Let us know how you get on, mics_chick you might get lucky first time. also there's a similar thread at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=3482893#post34828930 -
Hi buglawton.
Yes you are correct I would allways use software to take the dvd from one disc to another as you can get problems.
The thread starter as already taken the data from the disc and returned the dvd, so the only way now is to burn and hope for the best.
good luck0
