Faulty curtains now out of stock but i have matching cushions & wallpaper NEXT

Options
As i opened my curtains this morning i noticed a big tear in my curtains at the top. After phoning Next customer services i have learned that they are now completely out of stock.

The problem is that i have decorated my living room around the pattern on these curtains. I bought matching cushions and wallaper, but not just that - the paint colour was painstakingly chosen out of a bazillion samples to get the right match too.

On a positive note the wallpaper was just used as a backing in a cupboard a inside photo frames, so i wouldn't have to redecorate that, although i will have to faff about replacing it in the frames and cupboard.

The lady that i spoke to on customer services was lovely and she tried to source me a replacement from a store, but there are none to be found anywhere! :(

I did ask what i would be able to do and she said that because they were ordered a long time ago (30th January this year) she wasn't sure, although she did understand that they are faulty.

They have said that i can return the curtains and cushions for a refund or exchange and they will give me a good will gesture credit for the wallpaper i bought.

After looking through the directory i can't find a suitable replacement that will suit the colour of the walls, or that will blend nicely with the colours in the kitchen, which is adjascent and slightly open plan to the living room/diner.

They do have the fabric in their made to measure section, but after a quick costing it would be £300 to order from there.

I just wondered what my rights are? Is it reasonable to expect them to replace the curtains using their made to measure service without asking me to foot the bill for the additional cost?

I would much, much rather just get the exact same curtains back so that i don't have to change everything.

Thanks in advance for any wisdoms. :)

It may be reasonable to expect it do be done if your curtains cost something like £270 and the made to measure ones £300 but if yours cost £40 then no!

Next are doing more than they have to by offering you a credit note towards new wallpaper, they could just refund the curtains and even take off some money since you have had six months use.

I'm not sure if a repair would be possible. It's a pretty massive tear right in the middle top of one curtain, so it would be too obvious maybe.

    Just in one curtain.

I think i will write a nice letter to customer services and ask them. They have indeed been good to offer replacement of the other items, however if they did their bare legal minimum of only refunding the curtains minus something for usage i doubt they'd be as popular a retailer as they are now. Perhaps they will take pity on me and help me out.

The curtains cost £120, so nothing like the £300 for made to measure.

I'll also go into a Next store to look at some curtains in person. You can't really tell what they're like unless you get to see them in real life. Maybe some will be okay for me.

    Thanks for your replies. :)
