Plum tree?

I think I have discovered a plum tree in my garden (been in our house year and half and still finding things in garden!). The fruits are quite small at the moment and I did pick one the other day just to check and it tastes like a plum (dark red skin). Any ideas when they will be ready? Is it usually late summer?

Usually by end July early Aug for ours. Our ones 'go over' very quickly (turning to mush) so be prepared to harvest the whole lot in just a few days.0

and eat them before the wasps do :eek:Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0

Hi there,
I have one of these in my garden:

Your description sounds similar to the fruit on my tree, which is ornamental (fantastic display of blossom in the spring, followed by great looking foliage and (some) fruit ready late July/August).
Yours may well be something else of course but I find with my tree, if you pick the fruit it’s best eaten soon thereafter.
cheers,

Hi Chunks
Yes that's the tree I've got, so I'm best just picking them in the coming weeks and eating. There is a tree next to it (on the other side of our fence) which looks similar but the fruits are paler. Great, thank you!0
