Returns to Waterstones, Gamleys and Next

Hi All,
Am going shopping tomorrow and have a book to return to waterstones (as I got 2 copies of it), a jigsaw puzzle to return to Gamleys (as I already have it) and a handbag to return to Next as I don't like it.
Does anyone have any experience of any of these shops return policies around Christmas? I don't mind just having exchanges, as I accept that without a receipt they can't give me the money, but will they only give me the sale prices of each item?

Got full prices for exchanges at Next today without receipt, the labels of things in the sale are marked, so they knew that my items hadnt been reduced. Hope this helps someone.

waterstones will only give you a refund if you have the reciept. without the reciept they will only offer you an exchange if the book is resaleable (ie in perfect condition and a title they normally stock). Then will only offer you the lowest selling price for the exchange, so if the book has been in the sale they will only offer you that price.
You are not restricted to exchanging the book at waterstones though. You are, of course, free to try any other shop that will offer you an exchange (possibly at the RRP).
Any other questions reguarding waterstones feel free to PM me.

I work In Next and they should give you the full price back on a 'refund card'. They can see that you didnt get them in the sale as they wont be red dotted.0

I returned an item to Next without a receipt a couple of days ago which had been bought before the sale, but was confident that I'd receive the full price back as it wasn't "red dotted"
I was then told that I'd only receive the current price for it as Next had changed their policy, and now don't red dot sale items.
I stood my ground, and when the manager tried to fob me off with CS phone number, I made him stand in the shop and call CS on my behalf. The first person he spoke to didn't have the authority to over ride the "policy" so I had to get him to speak to the CS supervisor to authorise a full price refund, which I did eventually get.
Does this mean that different branches are working to different rules? I'm very tempted to print this thread off and go and rub his nose in it!0 -

They must be! I got full price on items not red dotted without receipt - but I exchanged for other items.0 -
Yep, it must differ in different branches. I took a top back yesterday that was a xmas present for my daughter. No red dot and it scanned back at full price £12.99 - as i had no receipt i had to exchange for another item.Best Wins of 2010 = Apple ipad & £100 Dejager vouchers:j:jJune Prizes = Kids Card game, Miners nail polish set,L'oreal million lashes mascara.0
