I remember my local Boots manager telling me he was embarrassed by the amount of profit the pharmacy made on prescriptions, it was the biggest profit dept in the store.0 -
Thanks all for your quick responses, guess my express manager should have known this.
Cheers

baby milk - already covered
lottery - charity so apart from retailer cut unlikely the'd offer a discount
prescriptions - prescriptions cost the same everywhere(ok except Wales etc.) as the price is centrally fixed so of course it's non profit
cigarettes - probably falls under similar rules to baby milk so unable to promote/offer discounts0 -

Anyone got any idea why Tesco's don't award points on Baby Milk, my local 'express' manager has no idea and have got no response from CS?
Thanks
Mark
No promotions on first milks as breastfeeding is encouraged and more people would be put off bf if they could boost points etc. buying baby formula.0 -
cant use your clubpoints to buy it either when you get your vouchers (unless you use it with a bigger shop)0

Its the breastfeeding mafia at work!!! I used to buy babymilk from our local community health clinic at £2 less per box than Tesco's/Boots/Asda, etc.. - so no profit in babymilk for the big retailers is a total lie. Anyway, I think they might have put a stop to that now and are giving vouchers for fruit and veg to mums on benefits instead.
Jxx
PS: Health visitors are also not supposed to give advice on bottle sterilising and the like too as that may be seen as promoting bottle feeding, so god help the children of the clueless. And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
I just checked my receipt from my online shop from Mr T this afternoon and I've been given points for my baby milk !So little money - so much time :mad:0
-
i thought the health authority subsidised it when bought from the clinics and i think retailers get an operating allowance for selling prescriptions plus you may buy something else whilst you are therei'm living in a parallel universe0

This comment is abit harsh IMO, as a breastfeeding mom I find this comment over the top. Why does every thread on here relating to infant formula milk turn into a (anti) breastfeeding debate?
I thought it was the government (or possibly the World Health Organisation) that prevented promotion of baby milks. After all we've survived from the start of the human race breastfeeding just like other species! If you don't want to do it then don't if you do want to do it then do!0 -
What everyone above have said is true. Still, it doesn't stop my local Tescos putting up big signs promoting baby milk and saying you DO get points for it. Until TS tell them not to (every so often).0
