What has been your worst viewing experience?

Hi all, Just wondering what your experiences of viewing other peoples houses have been? Ever see anything strange?
The same question if you are the vendor, has a viewer ever done or said anything strange whilst viewing your house?
The reason I am asking is because we had our second viewing today and everything seemed to go wrong, about an hour before they showed up we had a power cut and had no electricity, our neighbour had to come and help us out as we couldnt figure out what the problem was.
Our estate agents are supposed to do our viewings and they didnt show up, instead the viewers turned up alone asking where the EA was.
They brought their newborn baby and their 3 year old who insisted on screaming the house down for ten minutes whilst running up and down the kitchen. His mum only saw the living room and kitchen because she decided to take the kid outside to the garden until her husband was done looking round the house.
On top of that the viewers didnt speak much English so communicating was quite hard.
He ended the visit by telling us that they are not even sure they want to live in our area.
So, all in all it went quite well,
How about you? anything strange, embarrassing or just a case of everything going wrong?

We viewed a house in which the couple were clearly going through a separation or divorce, but were trapped together by the house. He showed us round and was generally friendly, while she just sat in the living room and gave us all the evils.
It was awkward.0 -
I went to view a flat a few months ago. I had just turned onto the not very long street where the flat was when I heard a long, loud female scream and watched as a youth came sprinting out of a drive way followed in hot pursuit by, I kid you not, a middle aged man wielding a broom and shouting with a strong Irish accent "I'm going to ...etc etc". [I did wander down the drive way to check on the welfare of the screamer; she was already being looked after and seemed fine].
Then, when I got to the house I found it was being rented out (I was looking to buy) and the tenants were still in. The lady of the house was cooking the strongest smelling curry ever (and I like curry...) and the estate agent and I were accompanied around the house on our viewing by a child telling us 'get out, get out' continuously!!!!
I didn't buy it.0 -

hahaha that made me smile, brilliant.0 -
The lady we bought our house from was obviously going through a divorce as in every room she made a comment about the ex. In wine cellar, this was the wine cellar until my husband left me and took all the wine with him. In the bedroom, this is a seven foot bed, not that I need it now my husband has left me. Was so awkward!0

We went to view a house and on getting out of the car we noticed a big handmade sign (think a large sheet between two sticks) in the opposite neighbour's garden with "thank f*ck you're leaving" on it in huge letters.
We went in to view the house and the woman explained that they had CCTV on both sides of the house because her husband worked nights on taxis. Yeah right.
I didn't have the balls to ask what the sign was about as the poor woman looked uptight enough, but I guess there wasn't any hiding that particular neighbour dispute from prospective buyers.
I often wonder what happened in the end.0 -

Oh i had this on viewing a property ... in the bedroom " this is the bedroom and this is where my ex ripped the tv off the wall"." this is the bathroom, dont mind the blue splashed paint its where my ex threw the pot at me":eek:0 -
Well actually I had a very stressful experience last week where someone came round with their children and one of them managed to break my glass table, ruin my floor and smash some valuable Danish ornaments. Just kidding.
Actually I went to view a house on Saturday and there was a dead pigeon on the stairs. It really caught me by surprise but the woman just moved it to one side with her foot as we went upstairs, didn't mention it or apologise or say the cat brought it in etc. It was really weird.0 -
My worst viewing experience was when our dog nibbled his paw and created a bloodbath on the landing just before viewers were due to arrive. No amount of scrubbing did any good and we had to rip up the carpet and take it down the shed. My husband was convinced we would be reported for suspicious goings on. All that effort to no avail as the female of the viewing couple was disinterested to the point of rudeness, not saying a word and not even stepping into any of the rooms. How to be made to feel uncomfortable in ones own home!0

I sat in the garden one day while the EA showed a couple round. She arrived before her OH and the EA proceeded to show her through the ground floor. She was LOVING it. OH turned up, stomped from one end of the house to the other, said "No" and stomped out. She was gutted, EA was running round like a headless chicken ... and I sat sniggering in the garden behind my magazine.0
