I made myself feel truly ill with THE WORST chicken satay from my usually reliable Chinese takeaway.
So tonight starts the change in eating habits for good as feeling ropey at the end of one's first week of work on a client site ain't too marvellous!!!

Instead of indulging again in a takeaway, I went to Sainsbo's and bought a pizza express pizza and dough balls for a THIRD of the price and it will be spread over 2 meals!!!
Chicken coming out tomorrow from the freezer to have PROPER chicken satay and probably some pad thai noodles to use up the sauce.

3 weeks until my first pay day and my first SOA.

Wowser - just discovered my Tesco Clubcard Points letter masquerading as a pair of boots and a mac on the floor by the door.
£8 off tomorrow's early morning shop then!

However - very grumpy as a pair of barely year old boots from Office (which cost a lot) split their sole on Thursday. Walking around in Watford in the pouring rain was SOOOO not the day to discover that!

So they need to go in for repair.

Gawd alive - have spent most of the day sorting through my BTL accounts to give to the Accountant for the last 3 years!!!

I think I made a mistake initially including times where I covered the costs of redecorating the flat and major repairs (new boiler) from my own account so I took those out my ledger of sorts. So now it looks as though I am making a permanent loss!
I've basically included the pre-trading costs (decoration)
Income is from managing agents (varies when they deduct costs for maintenance) and interest
Trading costs are Maintenance charges, lettings insurance and mortgage payments and one huge payout for the boiler.
I guess the accountant will ask for anything else if he needs it!!

Any other BTL-ers have any ideas?

OMG - I have to share this - what a total clutz!!!
I didn't get round to much revision yesterday because of the dentist - so I started making a.... SPREADSHEET (seriously - we should start a drinking game and everytime anyone mentions the S-word we take a shot of whatever is in the house)!

I had an calculation that took the end balance, added any payments and then worked out the interest. And to my horror I was going to end up owing more than when the recalculation had been done a year or so back! I checked the sums over and over and finally decided to ring the Woolwich and ask them what was going on...

... would have helped if I had DIVIDED BY 365 - to get the daily increment!!!

    What a dufus!!!
Now I have re-adjusted my.... calculating device... and now I am paying just under £5 a day in interest - MUCH more palatable than seemingly £1500 or so!!!

Just read the thread from start - that did make me laugh :rotfl:. Almost as much as when I set up my spreadsheet and had the formula wrong on one column so didn't deduct the mortgage payment from the balance _pale_ :D;).

Re the BTL - if it goes through an agent then not much to add really. Postage? Mileage? Phone bills? You can add a small sum for these without proof so don't need to scrabble about finding old phonebills etc.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

    Hi gallygirl

I am having a well earned rest now and settling down with my continuing quest to get through the LOTR extended edition - just did my BTL accounts watching the Two Towers in entirety and then again with commentary!!!!!

As my income has most of the expenses already deducted from the agents, hopefully it will be quite straightforward. The first 2 years, the BTL mortgage was fixed, interest only and only transferred to Repayment after 2 years so I have a mortgage statement I am going to scan and send him as well.

    That really should be it!!!!

Now I can get back to focussing on my own mortgage!!!

He does his best, you must admit (GL, I mean). The problem is he told his best stories three decades too early. I quite like the last (first) three movies, but really, they are so political that the technological whizz isn't really needed for them. But imagine if he was making the first (last) three now. Wow!

I know ... And like the film and sci-fi geekette that I am, I will be sacrificing OP money to pre-order the Bluray 6 films (not forgetting the limited edition film cell - because that's just TOO geeky to pass up)!
I am still somewhat reticent re: converting everything to Bluray. At the moment I'm sticking to decent action/adventure films that will really be awesome on BR. Things like RomComs can stay on DVD!!!!

But in true MSE stylie - I will be ordering from play.com and getting double points using my play.com Visa!!!

    I LOVE MSE.com!!!!
