Car Insurance increase by Admiral

I have a multi car policy with Admiral for my wife and i.
Last year she was caught speeding and recived an SP30, (3pts and £60)

I finally let my car insurance know about this after viewing various forum threads saying that the car insruance wont increase due to an SP30.

So i was quite happy about letting them know ,
However they then informed that a £60 increase would be payable for this SP30. on top of my already paid yearly installment.

So please be aware of Admiral

Dear Mr
Thank you for contacting us about your policy, registration

The reason your premium increased for adding your SP30 motoring conviction
is because we rate on motoring convictions as they are a higher risk to our
company.

Companies like this have you over an barrel at times. We have already paid the penalty for the SP30, why should the Insurance make EVEN more money out of us.

Erm, because you're a higher risk. I thought they explained that in the email.

They dont have you over a barrel as you've clearly gone with them as no doubt they were the cheapest quote. Cheapest isn't always best, it's been said time and time again. If you don't want to be hit with fines and increased insurance, sorry to sound blunt... don't speed? =/

If they deem people with an SP30 to be higher risk they will charge a higher premium (and therefore be able to charge people without a bit less to try to win their business). You have to let your insurer know about convictions and if you didn't they may well avoid a claim so you were right to do so. The charge isn't them being high and mighty punitively punishing you for being bad, they now view you as a bit of a higher risk so want a bit more money to cover that perceived risk.
