They are easy to fit if you know what you are doing !
How good / competant are you at diy ? I would say for an average diy'er it would probably take 2 hours if ducting it to the outside or about 45 mis - 1 hr if just doing on recirculation. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
theres 2 types you get 1 with plug top 1 without, one with plugtop is ideal to get plugged into socket and if your not confident use 2 people one to hold hood onto wall other to mark where fixings go onto wall generally 3 or 4 screwsthen connect to socket or 13A spur, 13A spur is preferred method of installation and is a matter of connecting brown to live, blue to neutral, green/yellow to earth on the load side but need to make sure you have isolated power0

Are you going to run the ducting outside the kitchen? They are pretty useless if you don't.0

I`m OK at DIY but can get my brother to do it or a close friend who is good - i always feel cheeky asking people if its a big job!
It will only be an Internal fitting. My neighbour had one fitted which does the job well plus it looks good.
My kitchen Looks odd having an electric socket high up on the wall and nothing there LOL!
Thank you for all your advice and jazzygazza for the instructions.DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Without an external duct they are not extractor fans. They are simply cosmetic and are of little effect.
That is why building regulations require external ventilation.Forgotten but not gone.0 -
i would stay away from buamatic candy. i take it you want a chimney style hood?
just read the instructions carefully, hight from hob. 3amp fuse etc.0 -

I agree, a complete waste of money. I had my new kitchen/diner completly redesigned and didnt bother with an extractor, opening a window (if needed) is cheaper!!0 -
the recirculation ones have carbon filters inside that quickly loose their effectiveness.
some makes, it's hard to find the filters for them ..or the filters disappear off the market after a couple of years
some makes ..the filters are expensive ..sometimes you have to search for a bigger cheaper filter ..and cut it down to fit..listings with sizes are usually on ebay
the best ones are the ones that dump the air outside ..don't think these have filters .

if you are not ducting it outside and the electrics are there its just a case of getting it level as attaching it to the wall with some screws. 2 people make the job a lot easier. Just make sure it is at least 750mm about the hob.0
