Debt Collectors

Don't debt collectors use company mobiles then?0
-
the problem arises when they use several different mobile numbers one after the other and the one time u do answer they hang up after u say 'hello'.
i agree OP, i dont think they should use mobiles @ all. anyone can call u from a mobile claiming their from XYZ. if it was an office number ud find them online, e.t.c....0 -
most companies use mobiles to call mobiles as this is a cheaper option than calling from a landline to a mobile.
It will be a business registered mobile used for the sole purpose of calling clients on mobiles, therefore no breach of data protection. To breach data protection they would have to disclose personal imformation relating to the client. To call a mobile number from a mobile number is not disclosing personal details.
If the client of the company gave this as a means of contact then the company is only doing what they have prior permission to do. Most big companies will have corporate mobile contracts where by the phone is only used during the shift or shifts of the advisor using it.0 -
Just a thought....some people will go to desperate lengths to avoid debts/debt issues....and I am not insinuating this is the case here...as will some debt collectors resort to desperate measures....and I am not insinuating agreement or otherwise0

Exactly - I have read many times on here that individuals block calls from landlines where the outgoing number is barred specifically to avoid speaking to the companies concerned (sometimes for genuine reasons too!). In many of these call centres that use modern technology such as diallers the number is automatically blocked so the call never goes through. For this reason they often have a pool of mobiles that they can then call out on to those blocked numbers.0 -
if they dealt with letters in the first place theyd not have to do do the underhand mobile thing.
I think MAC hall block 141 numbers. so of course they go the underhand mobile route... NOT WITH ME.
PLUS they phone outside of the legal hours!0 -
I still dont get the issue with creditors using mobile phones. Get into debt and you owe money yet your complaining about creditiors using mobile phones. The one problem with these forums is that too many play the victim.
As for Apex all there mobiles appear to be company phones connected to the system.0 -
As above, a potential issue would arise if the mobile was a private mobile, not connected to the company.
For example, companies that process data need to adhere to the data protection act:It is important to understand that the requirements of the Data Protection Act go beyond the way information is stored or transmitted. The seventh data protection principle relates to the security of every aspect of your processing of personal data.
So the security measures you put in place should seek to ensure that:
only authorised people can access, alter, disclose or destroy personal data;
those people only act within the scope of their authority; and
if personal data is accidentally lost, altered or destroyed, it can be recovered to prevent any damage or distress to the individuals concerned.
I would suspect a private phone would not meet this. A company mobile could potentially be encrypted.

so u mention 1 company u 'claim' to be listed. pull the other one. anyone can call u from a mobile and try to talk to u about ur account. U have NO IDEA as to who they are. Could be ID theft as if u search the number of course you wont find anything.... When the bank calls u for 'suspicious use of card' do u think they use mobiles... so why should a debt collector?MoneyWasting_Expert wrote: »I still dont get the issue with creditors using mobile phones. Its not about 'playing the victim'. its about BASIC security. If they cant be bothered to phone using the office number(s) (trackable) or via letter, they sure as hell aint gonna have me talk to them from a 'random mobile phonecall'.0 -
Whenever Barclaycard want to do fraud checks its a robot. Maybe instead of mobile phones debt collections agencies should use automated bots contacting you.:rotfl:0
