Energy Saving Bulbs Offers (merged)

  • I've brought the Ikea 8w bayonet sticks to replace 10 candle bulbs in two living room light fittings. They are short enough to replace candle bulbs as almost all other bulbs are ridiculously large!

Does anyone know of cheap sources for higher wattage bulbs (around 30W - over 100W equivalent)?
  • I too don't have a netto or Ikea anywhere near me to make it worth the petrol to buy a few energy savings bulbs.

I've been after the small screw (SES) energy bulbs for a while, but have never been able to find anything cheaper than £3.50 each.

I wizzed round a few shops this evening, this is what I found.

Homebase in Banbury had sold out of the 1.99 bogof offer (bayonet)
B&Q had General Electric 11W for 99p on the corner of the aisles (bayonet)
Focus had no real offers, only 3 for £5.99 (Bayonet or large screw ES)

Tesco had 9w GE candle bulbs under £2 each (Bayonet, ES, SES) half price!!
also 11w or 20w GE energy saving lookalike bulbs for £1.72 (Bayonet, ES) half price!! some of these are online but not all, the SES ones don't seem to be.

These are the cheapest SES bulbs I've been able to find in our area and B&Q had the cheapest bayonet I could find.

Safe to say my house is now fully loaded with energy savings bulbs.

Hope this helps others who don't have a Netto or Ikea near enough.

  • i got a relative to get me some of the bulbs from netto, then when they came to visit they dropped them off as we dont have netto near us.

john lewis 99p bulbs can be ordered online i believe.... worth checking.

also, if your on benefits you can get free energy eff bulbs from powergen - posted elsewhere ad nauseum.

Also when we switched energy supplier a while ago (powergen again), we got a welcome pack with 2 energy efficient bulbs in it.

some people are even selling the netto bulbs on ebay... for a slightly higher price, so worth a quick scan to see if with p&p there are any deals.

    R50 is a spot light with a reflector isn't it ?

I presume the low energy in this format is a LED version .
