Removing unused second line and cabling (with pics)

Hi,
The house we recently moved into has at some time had two phone lines - only one of which we actually use.
They meet the house at a junction box:

...and then the cabling goes around the roof to another junction box, that splits one of the lines into two, that go to two different wall sockets in the house:

A few questions:
Would we be able to get the second line and the surplus cabling removed from the outside of the house?
Is this something I can get BT to do?
Is it likely to cost?
Many thanks.

BT are content that the line is ceased at the exchange. They are not interested in your wiring and will probably charge you big money to remove it.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Hmmm... thought as much.
Thanks for confirming my hunch! We'll drop them an email, but will expect the worse.0 -
Just to update, removal of the cables would cost £130.0

Thanks for the heads up.
The removal/repairs aren't an issue to be fair - I feel like I've almost rebuilt this house anyway!0
