  • You can't use an Ethernet cable for connecting your TV to your computer. You'll require a video cable and an audio cable but without knowing the model of your PC and/or the graphics card used, we won't be able to tell you which video cable can be used.

More than likely it will be a standard male-male D-Sub VGA Cable (for the video) and a male-male audio cable with a 2.5mm jack on either end.

To play the media, you'll require only the same software as you currently use to play the media on your computer.

Wi-fi wise you can get a Popcorn Hour with wireless dongle, or a competitors solution.

It all depends really on the ports available on your devices. Read the documentation on any of your players, as they may allow connectivity to your home network. There's not much you can do with your Ethernet cable other than it's original use (networking), unless you plan on snipping the RJ45 connectors off the end and using the wiring. It can then be used for a whole host of things if you are into DIY electronics (e.g. I just used sections of an old scart cable to wire a USB port into my car).

Something like those you would need. Just realised I said 2.5mm in a previous post but that's wrong. Also, make sure these are suitable for both your TV and your PC; I don't want held responsible for purchasing incompatible cables :-P
