Sorry if this is a silly question but I just wanted to check
I have an Advent Milano netbook currently running on Linux Ubuntu, and I want to change it so it runs on Windows. I do have an official installation cd for Windows 98 but obviously being a netbook it has no cd drive. If I get an external cd drive, such as the one in this linky, could i just plug into the usb and boot it from that?
Would I have to get rid of Ubuntu first and then boot the cd, or is it possible to load Windows, make sure it works and THEN get rid of Ubuntu?
Alternatively, could I copy the installation cd onto a usb flash drive to avoid the need to purchase the external cd drive?
Any advice would be much appreciated

Initial question is, what type of hard drive is in the Milano?
Second question: Why would you want to remove Ubuntu to install Windows 98? That's like selling your gun to buy a catapult!2.66GHz Intel i7 920, Socket 1366 (B) Nehalem

I use a PAYG internet dongle which isn't really compatable with Ubuntu and really really drains the credit on said dongle, I'm having to top up 4 or 5 times more frequently than when I used the dongle on Windows - hence wanting to go back to WindowsCARPE DIEMaut viam inveniam aut faciamBe sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour0 -

I'd be very surprised if they provide Windows 98 drivers for the dongle in question, and I'm also surprised that Ubuntu is causing excessive credit consumption. Are you sure it's using a lot more and you're not just doing more data-intensive tasks?
Which dongle is it?2.66GHz Intel i7 920, Socket 1366 (B) Nehalem

I don't have the dongle with me right now so can't be sure which one it is, but the internet usage is exactly the same now as when I was using Windows, except I'm having to top up so much more often nowadays !!CARPE DIEMaut viam inveniam aut faciamBe sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour0 -
