I am looking into having some PR done for my website- Press releases, in the hope of getting some articles in magazines, newspapers etc
competitions etc etc
I have had a few quotes but I have a small budget does anyone have any recommendations of companies who have succeeded for them at reasonable cost? I am only a small online business aimed at children but I really need to get out there!
Many thanks
Helen

I am a PR consultant and if I can help happy to do so. I have also handled a number of websites and I think you are doing exactly the right thing. I know so many people who have launched a site without thinking how they were going to market their product.
it's difficult to know how to help you without knowing what it is you are going to do.

another start may be to put the website details in your Public Profile and invite other users on MSE to view, who knows, people may like what they see and so the word spreads....just a thought....good luckI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

You are not allowed to do that on MSE. You can put your site in your profile, but inviting members to view it in posts or your signature could be classed as advertising, and would be against the rules of the site. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Very few people will visit a website because of an article in a newspaper etc. so don't throw money away on it. In addition, it will likely only be in the paper the once. Take the DIY route and visit your local regional newspaper in person, take your press release, and have a chat with them.
Instead, spend the money wisely with search engine placement, and search engine adverts so that relevant people can find your website.
If you are selling products online, then please get in contact with me, as I can advise you on that.0
