Paypal - debit card renewal question

My new Visa card has come through and is now waiting in my drawer for the turn of the month.
I keep getting prompts from Paypal that my current card is about to expire, which indeed it is. However they seem to think that any new card must have new numbers on it, which it hasn't. The only thing which has changed is the security code on the back, perfectly standard practice for Visa on normal card expiry.
How do I register the new card, can someone tell me?

Add the new card first as a new card, only then remove the old one. I have always struggled to just renew my card and in the past have ended up in a real muddle and whilst it is an odd way of doing it adding it as a new card appears to work.
However, wait for other to respond in case they have a different experience to me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I only have a credit card listed but I managed to change the details without adding/removing cards. If the debit card method is the same as c/c
go to My profile, click on drop down, choose My money, see list of cards registered. If the debit card has update next to it, click on that, then edit on next page. On the next page there are your details, address etc, and the card can have the expiry date updated there, with the security code for safety. Of course it may be totally different for debit cards, but this may help others having problems with c/cs.0
