As always I am working close to the deadline! A teacher in my school is retiring this year and I have filmed lots of message from the children on a flip cam (MPEG files)
I need to put them into Microsoft Movie Maker but the file is not recognized. After lots of Google searches, which mainly tell me I should be able to do it, I have lost the will to live!
I am resigned to the fact that I need to convert the files. These are the files that I can convert to:
• Video files: .asf, .avi, .wmv
• Movie files: MPEG1, .mpeg, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2
Any would do! Can anyone help? Leaving assembly is Friday!
Cheers in advance x

Have you tried VLC Media Player, which can handle most things?0

What is the error message you receive from Windows Movie Maker, its possible this could be a codec issue and easily resolved. Otherwise what are you asking? If you're looking for a program that will covert Mpeg into any of those named formats then as the poster above said VLC will do it for you, otherwise Virtualdub is good; both are free.0

The message is:
The file E:\miss p\aaron.MP4 is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.0 -
Media menu option 'Convert/stream'
Add all the files you want converted in the top pane then select 'convert' from the drop down menu next to the cancel button.
you'll get a new window with another menu to choose what type you want to convert to.
Dont choose 'display the output' as itll make it take 10 times as long unluess you have an uber powerful computer0 -

Thats a quicktime format, movie maker (i believe) only works with files windows media player will play. you could get a patch to make it work (at least you can get one to make media player play them) but itll be easier to just use vlc0 -
Cheers - off to have a go! I'll let you know!0
