Im looking for purely contents insurance, and would prefer:
- No Excess
- Minimum £15K of cover
- A comprehensive level of accidental damage cover (with no caveats!).
- Good Sign-up offer!
Can anyone offer up any recommendations / horror stories? Its the first time Ive bought contents insurance!

No Excess
Not going to happen.
- Minimum £15K of cover
If you want an old fashioned specified sum assured policy then most of these have around 15k -20k as a minimum. However, this type of policy is mostly obsolete nowadays unless you have a non-standard requirement.- A comprehensive level of accidental damage cover (with no caveats!).
not going to happen. There will always be exclusions. Some will have more than others.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
I think barclays home insurance will give you what you want. You can taylor it to your needs, its rates are really competitive and on top of that if you go through quidco you will get at least £100 cashback.
hope this helps

To back up what Dunstonh says -
No Excess. You used to be able to get this but it was so abused. People would claim for a lost umbrella costing £5. It would cost the insurers 3-4 times that amount just to handle the claim in staff and overhead costs.
Accidental Damage no caveats - again it cannot really happen. Insurance policies are contracts between 2 parties, the policyholder and the insurer. The policy wording has to be phrased to prevent the contract becoming open ended - the insurer being liable for everything.
If you are looking for a wide ranging cover then look at the high net worth policies from Hiscox and Chubb. They would not however consider you if you only have £20k contents. You normally need £200k plus contents to be eligible.0 -

I have my home contents insurance with Hiscox and do not have £200k's worth of contents cover

The threshold is £150k for the Hiscox 606 policy. http://www.hiscox.com/ViewCMSPage.aspx?pageID=63004092-9e28-451a-a662-9c4bc1993b26
They do an online policy but it is not a true High Net Worth product.
EDIT - link doesn't work properly. Look at About Us and then products - personal.0 -
There's a full list of Insurance articles in the menu just to the left of this page. Yes - your expectations are unrealistic - and you need to temper them a little by reading through this :-

Just bought my son minimal home cover (he's recently an ex-student .... so wholly incapable of doing other than drink / eat / sleep) .... via the links there. Gave me lots of options - depending what I wanted to pay. Try it ??If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
