Asbestos in Artex Removal costs?

Hey,
Can anyone give me a rough figure for the cost to remove artex which could potentially have asbestos in it?
Were looking at the 2 rooms and a hallway (upstairs and down). Every wall has artex on it :-(
Unfortunately we cannot skim over it as the house needs a full electrical rewire.
Thanks

First get the stuff tested for asbestos so you know where you stand.
My understanding is that it is only a danger if you sand it, or otherwise break it up. I think you can remove it yourself, but do check up from the HSE or whoever. You will have issues when it comes to disposing of it if it contains asbestos, again contact the local council or HSE.
To remove artex see here:

I'm not sure how you use the stripper but I think you can buy a sample for testing purposes. I have used Kling Strip which is a poultice stripper and for paint on plaster it worked marvellously . Be careful as they say it could be a mess if the walls are drylining.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
Everyone else in the country just skims over it - even after doing a re-wire.
It may pay you better to Dot and Dab plasterboard onto the artex then skim the fresh board. this way the sparks can lay the cable directly clipped to the wall protected by capping.
This would be a cheaper option as asbestos removal is very expensive, the re-wire will also be easier for cable routing and should save you labour.
Also with skimming board you get a near perfect finish if you use a decent plasterer.0
