Painting over lacquered wood

I have a similar query to another recent post, but I think it's different enough not to hijack that thread.

I recently bought some lacquered pine furniture from Ikea (!) which I would like to paint with satinwood. I've given it a quick rub with smooth sandpaper and then a wipe down with a damp cloth. Do I need to do any extra or can I now paint it as it is?

then a couple of coats of satinwood

Another vote for Zinseer I did my vanished ceiling with it, 2 coats and 2 coats of Dulux matt for ceilings, the ceiling was heavily vanished, 3 years on and still fine. Decorators use this stuff a lot, not cheap but works

It will be fine to just paint with satinwood as long as you have keyed the surface well with fine sandpaper.flexable sanding pads are great for this
