New digital frame [2 years old] not working.

My brother bought me a BT eframe 200 digital photoframe about 2 years ago. I already had one so left it unopened. Recently my daughter took mine with her.
I opened the eframe200 plugged in worked fine. Following day, although powering the unit, it failed to start or show anything. I phoned BT helpline. Suggested unplugging and re-connecting. No good. The advisor said it was unfortunate but as the unit [although new] was in fact not covered buy the 1 year guarantee, as it was around 2 years old.
Tough luck?

Where did your brother buy it from?
Technically you have no rights as you werent the one who bought it (unless your brother told them it was for a gift and got a gift receipt i believe).
I wouldnt get your hopes up too much though as after the first 6 months, the onus is on the consumer to prove the fault was inherent and not a result of misuse or overuse (for example not following proper storage instructions could be seen as misuse - i have a pair of cooking scales i'm supposed to test/use every 2-3 months).
However, he may have purchased it from somewhere with excellent customer service who may offer a remedy without any hassle. You never know until you ask - politely of course. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Thanks for information. Will ask my brother.0
