About time if you ask me. If someone ask me for the number for my local station l wouldn't know it or where to find it quickly if no access to the internet

Faintly confused. We've had 101 for years...? Perhaps they trialled it in my area."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Its the first time l have heard of 101 l know they created the 0300 numbers.
I wonder what areas already have the 101 number then.0 -

The question is, though, will that number be answered in anything other than geological time.
Trying to through to the police on a non 999 number usually results in a message saying "we are experiencing an unusually (yeah, right) high number of calls at the moment", and then the phone rings until it times out.
Other than that it's a very good idea. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Thanks for that. I am a person who reads newspapers and online news sites on a daily basis but l haven't heard of this number, how did l miss it....lol0 -
Pfft, I much preferred the new emergency number, 0118 999 881 999 119 725.......30

It always worked OK round our way. They'd get the police to take a look but it could take some hours for them to turn up (rightly so, that's the point). I once asked the operator I spoke to what the most common call was about and he said 'mopeds'. I usually just e-mail...
Dear sir/madam.
Fire! Fire! Help me!
Look forward to hearing from you, all the best.
It's usually better if you email the fire brigade in the event of a fire.
If you email the police, they will just have to email the fire brigade when they turn up and that slows things down unnecessarily. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

I think there's an online form now. It asks a series of questions and directs you accordingly...
1. Is something on fire? If yes, go to question 2. If no, go to 3.
2. Is it your arse? If yes, you need AMBULANCE. If no, you need FIRE BRIGADE.
3. We're not that interested frankly. Goodbye."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
