Admiral Multicar renewal cheaper

Hi All,
My first post and thought I would share with you my experience with Admiral Multicar.
My wife and I have 2 cars an ST220 and an FR TDi so our insurance is never going to be cheap. Last year we saved loads by getting a multicar policy with Admiral and we were very chuffed at the £1300 price for both cars (the wife had 0 NCB...after I crashed her old car :) but the less said about that the better!!) anyway we took out the policy and paid £1300 in one lump sum and were very happy as the cheapest we could get for her car alone was over £1000. We are both named drivers and she earned 1 year ncb over the last year.

However...we just received our renewal for the multicar policy and it was £2263.32, despite her shiney new 1 years ncb nearly £1000 more than last year. Needless to say I cancelled the renewal and started shopping around. Using all the comparison websites I still couldn't get her a quote of less than £1000 so (here's the clever bit...) I thought I'd try the multicar policy again but this time the lead contact was in my wife's name instead of mine. Exact same policy and cover as my renewal but with my wife as the main contact...new quote £1312.17...unbelievable!

So if you are experiencing anything similar I would suggest you get another multicar quote but swop the contact to another driver on the policy. Needless to say, next year when my renewal comes in I will again be swopping the contact details around to put me back as the main contact!

Not keen on Admiral personally. I buy new cars every year or two and Admiral won't replace as new in first year or two but give market value.

They were very good - this year I decided to check out where they were in the market and concluded that with direct line I could insure both of the cars on individual policies for less than the Admiral renewal. As it wasn't much less I phoned Admiral and asked them to see what they could do which resulted in them chopping off £30 out of the £40 difference. For hassle avoidance I stuck with them despite it being £10 more expensive, however its worth bearing in mind that even on multi car they are not necessarily the cheapest.

My friend got a renewal premium through from Admiral the other day and it had dropped from £600 a year to £500 - I was shocked, he's only 24 so we were both expecting it to have risen quite significantly!

I have also just had a rather bad experience with Admiral multicar renewal. So much so that I emailed my discontent to them this evening. As an extra bit of foaming at the mouth a venting my wrath I thought I might share the content of the email I sent with you all. I did try to remain polite but may have strayed slightly. My intention is not to offend, so appolgies in advance to anybody they may take offence.
"I have just returned from holiday to find my insurance renewal. I was staggered to see the figure of £958.45. I promptly logged onto the first comparison website I could think of and punched in my details to discover I could insure my two cars independantly for over £400 less. I rang Admiral and spoke to a very pleasant lady, Tamara , who told me she would review the quote and resend it to me. This I recieved today, for £813.20 . I am bitterly disappointed in the service and feel that I have been taken for a fool. This evening I have spent a little time searching for quotes and although not the cheapest, I found individually insuring my two vehicles, with Admiral, through go-compare:- my Omega was £319.51 and the Synergie £372.51 .THAT DOES NOT ADD UP TO £813.20!! I would also point out you claim that the multicar policy is cheaper the more cars you have. What a load of b@ll@x.
I actually found I could insure my two vehicles for fractionally over £500 without any voluntary excess, with legal aid, windscreen cover and courtessy car. So why do you feel you can charge me such a rediculous figure. Please note and confirm by email that you have understood... I will not be renewing this multicar policy. "

Perhaps we can shake them up a bit, and when they start loosing business they may stop taking people for a ride. Frankly I think it is disgusting.
    Regards to all.
