Easy Jet Luggage Question

Hi!

I am concerned that I am being completely thick here so I thought I'd come and ask the wise MSE users, who always seem to know everything!

Right, I am looking at booking an Easyjet flight for me and my partner and I am looking at luggage costs.

Am I right in thinking passengers are allowed one piece of hand luggage (within certain dimensions, weight etc.) free of charge? And then additional baggage to go in the hold is charged for?

We always travel light so we'd only be taking a small bag of hand luggage each anyway!

Also, what are the rules on liquid in hand luggage nowadays?

Thanks so much
K

  • Thanks Incapuppy, that's the site I was checking. I properly need them to say 'hand baggage is free', which they don't!

So I am right, then, that hand baggage with max. dimensions of 56 x 45 x 25cm are free per passenger?

    yes, you are right :).
liquids etc are still the same rules for hand luggage - gels, liquids, make-up etc must be less than 100mls size for each item, and each of you can carry up to 1000mls total of liquids etc, fit into and presented in one clear re-sealable bag each (roughly sandwich-bag size).

Also remember with Easyjet, your one bag is one bag each total - so if you carry a handbag, camera bag etc, that needs to fit into your hand luggage bag.

    Hi Balletshoes,

That's great; I just needed someone to confirm for me in plain English!

Wow, I didn't know you were allowed up to 1000mls in total- that's fantastic! The thing is that I have a bleached blonde pixie hair cut and I have to use special silver shampoo so keep it as white as possible and I don't know how easy that would be to find on holiday so I need to take it with me!! Plus, I can't be without my foundation so I need that as well. But 1000mls should be enough for all my beauty essentials!

Thanks so much for everyone's help.

You are only allowed 1000mls in containers of 100mls or less if they will all fit into the single clear re-sealable bag of the size set out. I'd be surprised if they would all fit.

It depends what you have - I typically have a travel/small size toothpaste, a travel size moisturiser, a lip balm (or 2), a tube of suncream, a roll-on deodorant, and 75ml bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash/shower creme. I can fit all of that into one relevant-sized resealable bag for hand luggage.

Don't forget, its one such bag each too, for each passenger taking hand luggage.

I'll be putting most of my liquids into (falcon) tubes of 50ml

If both of can take 10x100mls, I think we'd be okay with taking shampoo, conditioner, foundation, suncream, toothpaste, hair wax, lip balm, mascara, aftersun, perfume, deodrant....

Whilst I think about it, I just have a couple of quick questions about Easyjet check-in and seating. We've never been on a budget flight before!

First off, we've been e-mailed a boarding pass. Since we're taking hand-luggage only, am I right in thinking we just go straight to the departure lounge without having to check-in at the desk in the terminal?

Second, we've always had allocated seats in the past. Is it just the case that you need to try and be on the plan early to get a decent seat? Like a train?!

Sorry if this is seems a bit thick but it's our first time with Easyjet! Sorry, I realise that sounds really quite snobby but I didn't mean it like that at all :)

    yes, thats right

when your flight is called for boarding, get in the queue - the further up the queue you are, the earlier you will be on the plane to choose your seats etc. Which airport are you flying from/to? Some airports use shuttle buses from the departure gate to your plane, in which case it won't matter much where you are in the queue to get on the bus, it will be a bit of a scramble when you get off the bus and onto the plane :).

    Hi

We are also using Easy Jet for the first time in just under 3 weeks, we are going from Stanstead, do they have shuttle buses, or is it first come first served for the best seats. We wasnt sure wether to get speedy boading, but no oint if stanstead use shuttle buses.

Also we have baggage that we have to check in, but we have also printed our boading passes, so i take it we have to go to an easy jet check in to get rid of our luggage.

Sorry if these are really simple questions.

    thanks

I don't think you would be emailed a boarding pass unless you've done something different from usual. You would have been (or will be) prompted to print one when you check in on-line. Make sure you're not looking at your travel plan, although it should say on the first line of that "This is not a boarding pass".
With the boarding pass you'll go directly to security and then to the departure lounge.
