Tesco Customer Service - praise

Last week I bought a pack of Tesco Finest British Free Range Corn Fed Chicken Breast Fillets weighing 526gm priced at £6.30 (2 fillets) - so pretty expensive at almost £12 per kilo.

When I opened the pack, the fillets were very mismatched in size. One fillet was at least twice the size of the other.

I might perhaps expect uneven sized meat in their value range, but in their Finest range I would expect to get similar sized fillets.

I had to cut the fillets into chunks as I was uneasy about irregular cooking because of the size discrepancy, so my planned special meal was spoiled - I was going to stuff them with feta cheese, tapenade and sun-dried tomatoes.

I sent an email to Tesco Customer Service on Saturday and someone from Tesco CS at the shop where I bought the chicken rang rang this morning (she rang yesterday but we were out).

She was very apologetic and is going to send me a money card for the price I paid, so well worth taking the time to complain.

I would expect it to be the other way around. Cheap, mass produced products , I would expect to be of uniform size. Fresh, natural products will all vary. As long as the weight is correct.
Good customer service towards you, though.

I do get your point about weight, but I still think that more effort should have been put into making the fillets closer in size.

I'm not talking about a few grams here, as I said in my original post one was at least twice the size of the other which would have made a big difference to cooking times.

If they'd packed similar sized fillets together customers would have been able to choose which weight they wanted to buy.

I know some value ranges in supermarkets are mis-matched, not-pretty items e.g. tomatoes and peppers.

I just thought their Customer Service people were pretty good (although I haven't received the refund yet :rotfl:).
