Error 1324: The folder path 'My Pictures' contains an invalid character

Hi All

Maybe somebody out there can help me with the above message I have recieved whilst trying to install the latest version on Windows Defender. After Googling it it would seem I have a registry problem. If I know anything about the registry it's ' don't fiddle with it if you don't know what your doing ' and I don't !

Can anyone explain...in easy peasy laymans terms.....what I can do do resolve this problem ?

try saving this to 1.reg

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]

"My Pictures"=hex(2):25,00,55,00,53,00,45,00,52,00,50,00,52,00,4f,00,46,00,49,\
00,4c,00,45,00,25,00,5c,00,4d,00,79,00,20,00,44,00,6f,00,63,00,75,00,6d,00,\
65,00,6e,00,74,00,73,00,5c,00,4d,00,79,00,20,00,50,00,69,00,63,00,74,00,75,\
00,72,00,65,00,73,00,00,00


and then double clicking on it.

sounds like the path name has been altered, you could try doing a system restore to a date you knew it was fine, that could rename the path to its original setting.

Thanks for your replies...however your solutions mean absolutely nothing to me....!!. I did say easy peasy..

and then double clicking on it.

Or you could just rename the folder to "My Pictures 2" then rename it back to "My Pictures". It'll have the same effect.
