Not been to India but I used Repel 100 in Indonesia and it seemed to work. Bought it from amazon as it had good reviews and seemed better than the local stuff we were provided with. I am normally a magnet for anything that will bite and only ended up with a few bites on the bits of me I hadn't sprayed, those mozzies will find the few bits of skin without any protection (I got bites under my arms for example). For some reason I've been bitten in my garden here in south London twice and needed to go to the doctors for anti biotics as I've had such a bad reaction and my whole leg has swollen up which is odd!

We normally buy a "Jungle Formula 50% deet" to take with us as we don't want to have the hassle of shopping on the first day or 2. The stuff stinks, I think its the deet, but is very effective.

Then as BOB THE SAVER says ODOMOS from the local shop. we use the pump spray. its about 60 or 70 Ruppees.
    ( under £1)
    Smells much better

I used this and it didn't work very well for me. I normally use Avon Skin so soft but forgot to take it with me. I sprayed my feet with the Jungle formula, put my sandals on 20 minutes later and couldn't get them off. It had melted the lining and it was stuck to my foot. It also took off a layer of skin in places when I finally got them off. Worst off all I still got bitten a few times:(. There is a warning on the can about not getting it on synthetics, plastics etc. I didn't see this till after.:o

Odomos is much more pleasant to use than the 50% deet stuff but for some reason it doesnt work on everyone. I found it to be totally ineffective so we always use the 50% deet. I dont like it, its horrible and can melt nail varnish but its better to be safe than sorry so I just put up with it. I find it to be 100% effective.

I know it's fairly widely known - but really Skin-So-Soft from Avon definitely does the job. Plus, of course, the proper vaccinations/tablets.

    Have a great trip! xx
