Ebay and home insurance

I have taken out a direct line home business insurance plan to cover stock held at home, but am struggling to find a normal contents/building insurance cover that doesnt treble when you mention your home being used as a business.
All I do is keep stock here which is already insured, however I dont want to not mention it and invalidate my normal policy.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Karen

Yes. They will use any excuse to refuse paying out for any claims you make.
Having stock at your home could put it at a higher risk, I know a market trader who rented a garage
in the same block i had. 2nd week all the garages had been cut open and nothing touched except his,
All his stock had been taken.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Although it may not be practical, weigh up the price difference between the costs of both insurance costs to that of a local storage company as usually the price at these storage companies includes insurance. It may be worth comparing.0

I have found 1 if its of any use to any one else, budget home insurance only added about £25 on when you ticked your home has business use, so contents and buildings was £169, and £70 to direct line home business insurance to cover £7000 of stock.
Seems reasonable.
Thanks

Hope they are better at home insurance than they are at car insurance. Family member had a nightmare
car insurance claim with them.
3rd party hit them admitted liability but they sent a letter to the insurance the same day saying they were the innocent party.
And listed their losses. By the time my aunt had heard budget (her insurance) had already decided she was at fault.
Took witness statements and legal threats to reverse that decision.
Its one of those companies i would not touch with a bargepole no matter how cheap the cover was.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
