4 applications a week is not nearly enough. I can find 4 a week in specialised roles never mind entry level
You need to up your numbers a lot.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
I supposed it depends what the job is you are looking for, my role is quite specialised and there is no way I could find 4 a week in it. There are only about 2 or 3 companies in my area, the rest are further away that I can only get to with horrendous train travel cost and therye about 45 miles away which Ive done before but not going back to that.
Sometimes the 2-3 companies have jobs, but then they also have to be at the right level. To be honest its pretty rare to find the job I do offered. Im changing career paths somewhat anyway so this doesnt matter anymore, but it can be hard for people to sometimes find something that is suitable.
Of course unless you just need any job to get some money in, in which case there are lots to apply for and you probably could do more than 4 a week. But then having said that, I dont come across that many jobs that dont ask for certain qualifications or experience that you probably wont have if you havent done that type of job before.
Misty have you had someone look at your cv?0 -
Nowadays with the economy as it is, job hunting is purelty a numbers game unless it is totally specialised
1. check your CV is good enough
2. just keep churning out the applications, more than 4 a week definitely.0 -

In this current job market you have to be very diverse when it comes to job hunting. If you need money ASAP then apply for any job that is suitable for you and if a job comes in your field then you can always leave the other job.0 -
I would make sure that you have your CVs and letters of application checked over for spelling/grammatical errors, look at doing some voluntary work and consider doing a course to improve your English.0

I don't know what kind of work you are looking for but for things like office work get your cv on reed/ total jobs etc and re upload it on a regular basis so it goes to the top of the pile. I had a temp assigmnment end suddenly 2 weeks ago then on the wednesday I got a call from a recruitment consultant (not one I'd ever used) who had found my cv on reed who basically offered me an assignment there and then I started the next day! Ok it is only temporary but it is money and stops the CV gap.
And I do appreciate this was very lucky- i am looking for something more secure myself and it is very hard out there."It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0 -

are you not entitled to the JSA based on your hosuehold income? normally the first 6 months are based on your contribution record and then after that it's income based, if you haven't got enough NI I would have thought you'd be assessed for income based JSA? I guess it depends on whether you live with a partner as the job centre seem to think (well the government) that 1 person can support the other as well
Best of Luck

4 jobs a week!! That is not enough in my opinion - that is not even 1 job a day. What type of work are you looking for? Will you consider a job that you can transfer your existing skills? Are you flexible in hours, location, realistic salary etc?0
