Business partner?

Options
I just wondered if anyone had ever found a business partner, and worked successfully with them, outwith their friends, family or their own network of contacts? If so, how did you find them/meet up? I've often thought I'd like to work with someone but have never really known anyone suitable.

Some years ago I had a larger business and would have loved a good business partner, over the years I brought in family and friends for general work, with mixed success, but obviously that's not the same anyway.

I know you often hear horror stories about business partnerships, but there must be a lot of benefits too.

If each side brings something (be it money, experience, access to a market, etc) to the game, it can be helpful - but you need to think hard about the balance of power. Today I just handed a concept to a guy I met in Cannes(!) who I think is better able to exploit it than I am, on the grounds we work a deal upfront and that I don't want to be involved with it day-to-day. It's out of my core skills or interest, but right in his.
