Hi,
Nearly 3 weeks ago, I bought a ceiling light from Next Directory. My BIL is a qualified electrician, so, he wired it into the ceiling.
A couple of days after it was put up, the light went off itself, and wouldnt go back on. I asked my BIL to check it, but, by the time he came round, the light was working again, but, my BIL checked the wiring and said it was okay.
Yesterday, the light wouldnt turn on at all. MY BIL again checked it, said the power is getting to the wiring in the ceiling, but, it isnt getting to the light so it must be the transformer that came with the light that is faulty.
I today called Next directory to be told that its after the 14 days return period, so I cant return it, and it must have been us that damaged it!!!! I asked to be referred to a supervisor, but, it didnt make any difference.
Do I have any rights here?

Of course you can return the light, I'm sure that Next give a 1 year guarantee on their goods without having to resort to SOGA.
Did you explain that the light was actually faulty?0 -

Hi there
Yes I explained the light was faulty and that I had it checked with a qualified electrician. I was speak to someone in a call centre the other side of the world, so i dont know if they were trying to fob me off or not.0 -
They probably misunderstood you and thought you just wanted to return it for a refund.
I'd ring them again or return the goods through their web site procedure.0 -
Are you after an exchange for a working light? If so you should get that without question.0
