HEPA cylinder vaccuum cleaners-question pls?

At the weekend I bought a bush bagless cylinder vaccuum cleaner like this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4064176.htm
When I hoovered I noticed that the clear plastic dirt collector was all dusty on the outside, plus there was dust on the front where the hose goes.
I telephoned bush and told them and they said it was faulty-the vac is being collected tomorrow.
Today I bought another bagless cylinder vaccuum cleaner like this
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500002701&langId=-1&searchTerms=4065522 - and I noticed the same thing again.
Surely I cannot be unlucky enough to have two vacs with the same fault, and would like to know if it is normal to have dust appear on the outside of the clear plastic dirt collector.
Can anyone help pls?

From your explanation it sounds like it's picking up static electricity on the bits you mention
That would then attract the dust0 -
Yes this happens with mine. I assumed it was normal, and probably due to static.0

Thanks guys. I did think it was odd for there to be faults on both machines, maybe the lady at bush was wrong.0

I have a Miele with a Hepa filter and have no issues with static dust.0

One thing to be aware of is that once dust has been 'staticised' ie become static, it becomes carcinogenic.0
