My husband purchased a Pandora bracelet for my birthday February 2010. The bracelet broke in the middle after 16 months and very little wear. Returned to the jewellers with the receipt to be told it had run out of the 12 month guarantee and they would send it back to Pandora for their comments. Response via jewellers was it could not be repaired and they would not replace it as it had run out of guarantee. I then wrote to Pandora explaining limited wear must have been defective and it was obviously not fit for purpose. Received a response today saying sorry but it is outside of their 1 year manufacturing warranty and Pandora bracelets are unable to be repaired due to the unique and patented threading system.

Now left with charms and no bracelet to put them on and dont feel inclined to buy another as no guarantee this will last any longer.

Looking on the internet I dont seem to be alone in my experience what do you recommend I do now as none of this information was shared with me at the time of purchase.

I have a Pandora bracelet which i wear every day. I've had it for over 2 years now, i always take it off at night. If the bracelet is put under any stress it will break due to the way the bracelet is made, could you have squashed it all ? I'm not saying you have, just that i've never heard of one breaking before, i have dozens of friends who have them too. I've heard of the clasps breaking but never the bracelet itself. Why not buy one of the leather bracelets they have now ? Hope you get sorted, i'd be devastated if mine broke, i'd have to buy another.

You contract is with the jewellers you bought it from, not the manufacturer, any claim you make would have to be against them.

Read the guide at http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/consumer-rights-refunds-exchange - this gives a good overview of your rights. Bear in mind since it is more than 6 months since purchase, the burden of proof is on you to prove that the defect was present when you bought it (i.e. that is is a manufacturing fault or design flaw), which may be tricky.

Having had a look on their website, none of the bracelets I saw was particularly unusual in terms of manufacturing - perhaps a manufacturing jeweller/fixit place can sort it out for you?
