What does a surveyor do?
My question is, what will the surveyor do? Do we need to clear the entrance to the loft? How long will it take?
So excited, as from the day we sign we will have 28 days to move!!

Depends what they party employing the surveyor has asked them to do. It can be as little as 'check it out, estimate a value and make sure it has a roof' to 'I want to ensure complete structural integrity of the building'.
It depends a bit on what they find too - they are likely to be more invasive if there is something that needs further investigation.
You should enable loft access, and be prepared for the house to get an odd poke here or there if necessary.0 -
Some surveyors go into the loft, some don't. I had one surveyor who was in my loft 20 minutes - she even brought a nifty portable ladder to get in there, the next one didn't bother at all.
They're there to poke about inside cupboards, under carpets, in lofts - wherever they can gain access. They also like to stand in the garden and peer at the roof through binoculars.0 -
Ok thanks! Would you follow them around? Or should I leave them to it? an you tell I've never sold a house before
:heart2: THANK YOU MARTIN!! :heart2:0 -
Well he's been and gone (late, tut!) and said everything was lovely, shouldn't be a problem at all and they will ring me about figures soon! He said the current EA hadn't really done us any favours as it was very deceptive inside, much bigger than he expected, so we should have had much more interest! Oh well, hopefully this part ex will all go through and we'll be moving in 4 weeks!!
Oh and he didn't go in the loft
:heart2: THANK YOU MARTIN!! :heart2:0
