Thinking about going here for 4 or 5 nights in summer holidays. Was looking for some advice on suitability for 13 year old? Are there many big thrill rides? Who is best to book with? Can you do it much cheaper booking independently your flights and hotel or is a package better value? If you have been would love to know how you did it and what you thought. Thanks.

flights are expensive in the summer and it gets very busy, we thought the onsite hotels were good as was half board, but we went in may so it was quieter than summer_ which is meant to be very busy!5 kids..1 hubby...1 dog..3 rabbits and a goldfish...yep ours is a Madhouse

we booked a package with direct holidays, it was 30 % at the time, this was 2 years ago, weve priced going back but it seems to have gotten much more expensive !5 kids..1 hubby...1 dog..3 rabbits and a goldfish...yep ours is a Madhouse

I was at PortAventura on Thursday! We booked flights with Ryan Air for quite a good price and then accom separately in Salou. Its easy to get to PortAv from any hotel in Salou, Cap Salou or La Pineda so it's possibly not worth paying extra to stay on site if you have a budget.
There are plenty of big thrill rides, some of which i think are better than those at any theme park in this country. There is an 8 loop rollercoaster called Dragon Khan and a 0-130kph ride that scared the living daylights out of me called Furious Baco. You can buy an express ticket that means you can get on selected rides quicker and it is open until midnight at the moment! They do a great show at closing too with the characters on floats and a display on the water which is topped off by fireworks every night.
It may be worth looking at a package through Thomson or Thomas Cook and also have a look at build your own companies such as Flexible Trips.
Let me know if you need anymore info about the park :beer:0 -
Cheapest I can find is about £1300 booking flight and hotel seperately for 4 nights. Seems about £1800/£1900 through Thompson. This is for one adult and one 13 year old (unfortunately age 13 is classed as an adult). Ideally want to go between 7th - 14th Aug from a London airport. Like the idea of hotel El Paso as all inclusive so nothing extra to pay. Anyone have any other options?Jan Grocery challenge

Have a look at https://www.portaventura.co.uk and Ryan Air. They can do the following...
9 Aug Luton to Reus
13 Aug Reus to Luton
Flights £127.81 pp, hand baggage only
4 nights at the El Paso for 2 adults 912 Euros (£830 approx)
El Paso is all inclusive and includes unlimited park entry.
Total £1086 or thereabouts.
Airport is 15 mins from the hotel so a taxi will be quite reasonable or jump on a shuttle bus.:beer:0 -
Ryanair to Reus have some great deals on for summer hols.. we booked ours about 6 months ago and they have dropped in price considerably.
We go Monday
Been before, done it independently both times and its very very easy to get from the airport into Salou or Cap Salou etc.... Plana bus meets Ryanair flights at the airport, just hop on. Last time it was an English driver.
We booked our hotel this time through alpharooms.com
Good luck.0
