There was a similar thread at

maybe you could PM the poster who says he had experience of this.
Also a thread at:

Or try a customized Spreadsheet approach:

There is also a FREE package, Onestep Accounting, that I installed and evaluated, was quite impressed with but it exceeds the need of a Sole Trader so I didn't use it - see thread:

It is quite comprehensive and can be upgraded to be multi user/networked. Good if you need proper handling of Sales & Purchase Orders. Once you plug the correct account numbering structure in, it works a treat. You need to be slightly techy and most basic issues are solved by looking at the product forum.0 -
We've just started using https://www.kashflow.co.uk
Very easy to use and there is no software to install.0 -
kashflow is alwell good, but would you like hackers to get hold of your account information?, id say no, all accounts should not be used over web. I use excel and a laptop.Kind Regards

We use sage start-up; not v. impressed with it as it is limiting us in what we can do!0

sage is industry standard and your accountant prob has it so you can send a disk instead of 1/2 a rainforest. not perfect but helpdesk v good and updates good and best of an indifferent bunch. we use instant and payroll and few probs and updates to keep you out of trouble0
