Would you stay with BG
hi all, we are on the websaver 11 tarrif dual fuel.
we both work from home, so electricity use is a bit higher than normal, 2 computers running all day.
During the summer we spend approx 40 per month on electricity, this doesnt change much in the winter, then about 30 -40 per month gas in the winter.
would you stay with bg or move, i guess all of the suppliers will increase their prices.

Put your annual kWh consumption figures into a comp site and it will tell you. No-one can advise you without knowing your consumption.
2 computers use very little-what costs is heating and hot water.
You may also want to consider a fixed tariff before everyone increases prices. No free lunch, and no free laptop

The email that you'll be getting from BG says this about ws11:
As a WebSaver 11 customer your prices will be increasing on average by 22% for gas and 19% for electricity, with effect from 18th August 2011**. This price change will amount to an increase of £16 per month for an average dual fuel customer on your tariff.
You are still guaranteed a minimum 6% discount to our Standard tariff tier 2 unit rates until the end of your contract.
As above you'll have to do your own comparisons remeber that only BG and SP have announced so far.
That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
And they'll kindly offer you Price Protector March 2013:
You can fix your gas prices until 2013 by signing up to our new Price Promise March 2013 tariff. This means that if prices go up before then, you can have the peace of mind that yours won’t – and that’s guaranteed. To have the assurance that comes with fixing your prices, we buy your gas and electricity in advance. Given the volatile nature of energy prices and the current economic climate, there is a 5% premium on top of our new standard tariff rates that come into effect from the 18 August 2011†. Applying is easy, sign up online before 18 August 2011. Please note there is limited availability.
I checked that on energyhelpline and it would be a massive 36% increase to my existing variable tariffs. No thanks BG.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I've had my bg letter for ws11, and nowhere does it mention the guarantee. my prices are risisng by 34% (tier 2) and 35% night rate. Indeed my prices are rising to MORE than the standard rate for our area (seeboard, econ 7), at least in one instance. I'll check back with specifics later. (I've also written to clarify twice whether I'll have to pay the £30 exit fee, and they say I will, even though they are breaking a previous agreement (to keep prices 6% below standard). I'm in a hurry at the mo, so the above is from memory.0 -
