Sorry, the description says Released September 2009 which I thought made it 3rd Gen, but just looking the 32gb and 64 gb 3rd Gen came out in Sept 2009, as did the 2nd Gen with updated iOS (confused yet?). So I think tjis is actually a 2nd Gen with iOS 3.1

No problem :) Does the 2g have an inbuilt microphone? I wanted the 3g to be able to use skype, so hope the 2g will work as I know the 1g doesn't....

Looks from the wikipedia link that it does.

    Also, another site states:

Compared to the original iPod touch, the second generation model has welcomed external volume controls on the left side of the device, an integrated speaker (external microphone supported via the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic), built-in support for the Nike + iPod Sport Kit, a "Genius" feature to dynamically create playlists based on "songs that go great together", and shaking the device gently "shuffles" songs.

" The 2nd generation also supports audio input when a headphone or earphone with microphone capabilities is plugged into the audio output (headphone) jack."

So it looks like you can use the 2g to make calls via skype if you get headphones with a mic built in. Ideal for travelling :)

Hi all - looking for an Ipod Touch for the young lad - has anyone used this site to buy before - are the products as discribed when ordering an "open box"? Or should we play safe and head to Tesco?

    Cheers

There have been a few post regarding this company, I think most experiences have been good.
