Hey my favourite subject!
As a single traveller, I personally prefer the flexibility and independence of travelling alone rather that in a group. Travelling as part of a group may take the legwork out of the planning but you do pay a premium for it, a differential which could buy you plenty of luxuries whilst you are away! You will also meet other interesting people and will not be stuck with anyone that see it as their duty to take you under their wing. From experience I would definitely recommend avoiding any arabic / Islamic country if you are single and female though, the unwanted attention can ruin your break. Tour guides are also known to try to take advantage of their position.
If you do want to be part of a group, I've found VJV do good trips to Europe, Asia and beyond, with cultural emphases but unless you get an exceptionally good deal, you will be paying over the odds with any travel company. That hurts!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
