It's an impasse. Supply is down and so is demand, mortgage availability still pretty bad and prices remaining more or less static.

Not good news whether you're a potential buyer or a seller IMHO.

Mortgage availability is very good if you save for a deposit. People better get used to it because thats how its going to be for a long time.

Can't argue with the first part - definitely wish we'd gotten more of a deposit together and in today's climate you need it to access the best mortgage deals.

Still, having said that - even with a 30-40% deposit, most of the lenders want £1000 or £2000 in fees to put you on a decent 2 year fix at the moment

Sounds funny to hear people saying that any thing over 5 or 6% is a very expensive mortgage. I remember being very grateful for single figures.

Of all the people who comment on house prices RICS are about the least knowledgeable. Land Registry must be the best (although a bit laggy), Nationwide second best (although a bit small in volume), and Halifax are just below RICS.

    Thanks Pimp.
If you can just keep repeating the same things, ad infinitum, whenever any measure of HPI is discussed, that would be swell.
