Catalytic converter & Emmissions?

The MOT garage has checked emissions that why its failed with the exhaust but the guy in garage said need full emission test which they did not have machine for as he thought it could be catalytic converter as well he said if thats case its not worth fixing car.
ah i think you mean the advanced test based on manufacturers readings.. tbh the tester sounds like he couldnt be arsed as all emissions machines in mot stations are capable of the advanced one..
did the tester give you any readings at all??
if its a mile out on the basic test then an advanced one wont do no good..
bodge as best you can to get a reading..Sealed pot challenger # 10
