Hi all

I'm really wanting to start up my own small DIY business, but every name I come up with has been already taken.

Any ideas please?

  • Could you use your name/initials or work area to form the name?

I'm not sure it is that obvious. Are you selling DIY products? Or will you be doing people's DIY jobs for them? Or something else?

    Not really.

Like Tomewer says, are you selling DIY stuff? That would be a DIY business.

If you're a general handyman, why not say so, that wouldn't be a DIY business (DIY is when I do it!).

If the latter, do you have any specialist areas, like carpentry, plumbing, gardening?

And, as per the first reply, you might be best to try the Small Biz forum.

Here's my idea, ran it through a keyword tool and then had an idea:

    thediyproject.co.uk
    - Available

You could also have it as thekentdiyproject or thesouthdiyproject to target the area you are planning to cover...

And if you decide to go for it let me know, might be able to help you with your website copy!

On a slightly wider issue, I'm trying to come up with a generic name for a beauty products business and would like to know how to check if a particular word has a different meaning in other languages. Short of googling particular words, does anyone know a website that I could enter words into for a 'quick check'?
