Scottish Power and Hydro Electric interim certificates

I have some Scottish Power and Scottish Hydro-Electric interim share certificates which I found in a drawer. They are numbered. Also dated 24th June 1991.

I am getting lost as to how to find out if they are worth anything or should I throw them away.

I have tried ringing Equiniti but they can't find anything registered at the address on the certificates and are not helping very much.

Can anyone help me or is this a lost cause?

Many thanks
Mike

Scotish Hydro-Electric evolved into Scottish and Southern Energy in 1998. Their registrars are Capita Registrars. So try contacting them, details here

Scottish Power was taken over in 2007 by a spanish company. Did you receive any cash for that? See the Investor Relations page. From there, look at the 'ScottishPower Shares' link, the Ordinary Shares. There are documents on there that should tell you your entitlements in this case

It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.

Have you been receiving dividends from Scottish Hydro-Electric/Scottish and Southern Energy? They have been paying dividends practically every 6 months since the share issue.
  • Hi, I have not seen anything at all and they (the current company registrars - Equiniti) just keep saying they cannot doing anything with a list of post codes for addresses I have lived and even then it may not help. <

Ark Welder has told you that the registrar is Capita, why are you still banging on about Equiniti?
  • I am not banging on, I am trying to get some help.

It seems form many phone calls today that Capita only handle the Scottish Hydro side and they have been relatively helpful

    Infiniti still handle Scottish Power.
  • "Interim" certificates dated 24 June 1991 merely acknowledge that the first installment (of three) was paid at privatisation.

If not previously sold, they would have become worthless bits of paper following payment of the second installments in April 1992 - at which time replacement "interim" certificates acknowledging payment of the second installment were issued (Scottish Hydro-Electric dated 29 April 1992, Scottish Power dated 5 May 1992).

If not previously sold, those 1992 interim certificates themselves became worthless bits of paper when the third and final installments were paid in March 1993 - at which time replacement fully paid up share certificates were issued (Scottish Hydro-Electric dated 31 March 1993, Scottish Power dated 7 April 1993).

For those who held on in, additional certificates for fully paid up bonus shares were issued by both companies dated 30 June 1994.

Apologies, it wasn't clear from your posts that you were only having problems with the SP shares but I did make an unfair assumption.
