Long haired moggy with matting problem

            can't actually see the photo/avatar of your cat. It's best to cut the clumps off - electric trimmer will not cut her skin (scissors might). Her skin can get sore under clumps of fur so it's better to avoid them forming - short hair it will v likely have to be.0

            The situation is resolved. I removed a lot of the matts myself, very carefully. Then madam was transported to a professional groomer we found two miles away. There, amidst much screaming, hissing, biting and clawing, and wrapping in towels which frightened the life out of all present, her nether regions were dematted to the point where her haunches are now bare. She's a different cat now. She's much friendlier and a helluva lot more open to clapping and cuddling. Her nature has improved almost beyond recognition.
