take them with you when you go to work/supermarket and bin it there lol :rotfl: or just leave it in someones trolley lol!:rotfl:
:shhh: i didnt say anything... :shhh:0 -
If you have room somewhere you could hang onto the unopened bits and pieces and regift them next year to one of those ShoeBox Appeals where the shoeboxes go off to young people who will truly appreciate these luxury items. (Not having a dig by the way, I know so many people get inundated with these things when they aren't wanted.)0

I recycle things I dont want or cant use. Just try to remember who gave them to you in the first place.
One funny story though - my aunt was given a set of M&S mugs by her brother one Christmas as a joint present for her and her hubby. She thought they were awful and it was naughty giving them a joint present so she took them back to M&S only to be told that they were really old stock at least 5 years and she couldnt have a refund as they were no longer listed on the computer. She stopped buying presents after that!!!0 -
I dislike receiving smellies too and have one person in particular in my family who always buys me the biggest set they can find. Im sure its on purpose as we dont get on! It goes to show how well she knows me, or more like -she probably doesnt care!
Ill be putting this years stash on ebay but Ive got a feeling the postage costs could be huge as its a large box, (nothing expensive though.)
I dont buy smellies for my friends unless they specifically request them as I buy things I know they will like, so I cant recycle it really. I may end up donating it to my mums raffle.
I wish I knew which market stall said relative buys these things from so I can get her one next year.0 -
i agree with you here, i get loads of stuff, but i like to cycle it so im not using the same huge bottle of something for weeks on end, also i like to be a bit more generous when im using it, eg use a full handful of showergel and really get the smell going around the bathroom! that way im really enjoying it but also using it up more quickly at the same time!!
what does annoy me it that if my nanna gets anything with 'bath' written on it it gets shoved in a cupboard, she only showers and so will go out and buy cheap rubish shower gel instead of suing bubble bath in the shower. baffles me that!! its all that same soapy stuff!! i never buy her bath smellies but others do and she is always really mean about it!It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

I love getting bath stuff for Christmas, I ask for it from my daughters. Took me ages to convince them that I really wanted it, they didn't think it was right!0

i too love getting treats to use when i have a rare moment to soak in the bath.
i would like to agree with somone who posted on here somewhere that hospitals are always grateful of any left over or unwanted smellies....I am a nurse and sometimes we are lucky to have a bar of soap for emergency admissions or long stay elderly care patients.
Putting items like nice hand lotions etc in staff toilets also make the place look that bit more appealing.....someone at our work has put some champneys hand lotion in the staff loos.....i would have loved to receive a gift like that!0 -
reduce reuse recycle.
i always get a few gifts i don't like/won't use etc so i write a note of who gave them to me and put them away in the gift cupboard to be reused. eg i got bedsocks wrong size off MIL, i know my mum would love them, so theyve gone in the gift cupboard for her and ive made a note on my gift list to get mum stuff that will go with the socks so im regifting but in a thoughtful way.
be careful though! my AIL gave me a purse, no tags, with a photo of her son left in. shed obviously used it! also this xmas we got out of date biscuits!0 -
My final problem: what to do with those gifts so disgustingly terrible that they won't sell on ebay or be an acceptable present for anyone in their right mind? No charity shop would want them either, but I share communal rubbish facilities with the gifter, so can't bin for fear of being spotted...
Dont worry about the disgusting and terrible stuff
my son works in a charity shop and every time
they get smellies in lotions, creams, shampoos, perfumes etc
they sell really well especially bath cubes.
It doesent seem to matter if they are only
part full ,from the cheapest to the dearest
they all sell, gift sets in battered boxes do
really well and the age of it does not matter
either.0 -

unfortunately it's not smellies, it's an absolutely hideous scarf in a foul colour and it's made of feathery bits of material that are moulting all over my flat :rotfl:0
