I am engaged in an interesting 'conversation' with my MP over the CSA charging proposals which has shifted somewhat to the issue of the non-compliant NRP who is self employed.
My MP feels that 'complex cases' are very much in the minority. Whilst I am inclined to agree with him in the big scheme of things, I have argued the point that our children represent some of the most vulnerable in relationship breakdown given the complete withdrawl of financial support which many PWC seem to experience when their NRP is self employed - I have explained, for example, that my eldest child went from being in a private school to being eligible for free school meals in the space of a term.
What I'm after from you lovely people today is just a few words on this thread which shows that you are a PWC who receives no child maintenance OR has a very low assessment based on a low income the NRP has been able to manipulate into his/her accounts OR your NRP works cash in hand some/all of the time and you receive nothing/very little as a result. I don't need a full story, but some details of the drop in your children's lifestyle vs. the lifestyle you see your NRP now living (recognising of course that he/she may well have a well paid or wealthy new partner in tow) would be very helpful. I am interested to see how many people we can 'collect' by the time my MP responds to the latest letter to show him that whilst we are a minority, our situations are pretty dire and need to be looked at in some detail if a solution is to be found.
If you would prefer not to post, please PM me. My MP has engaged with me and on the surface at least, has recognised the problem and it would be a shame to waste the opportunity to get the issue across to them. Thanks!
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and have been struggling with my issues of having a self employed ex partner for years. My ex is a self employed GP and also locums at the weekends. He also has rented properties which he has purposely placed into his parent's names, so that the CSA can't validate them as 'his' assets. I know full well he benefits from rent collected from these properties. My ex claims he earns £2777 net per month, I seriously doubt this but CSA say they can only go with what his accountant produces. My ex has remarried had 2 kids to reduce his child support and takes me to court every so often to increase his number of nights with my daughter to reduce child support. He is now asking fro more nights and threatens to take me to court if I do not give in to his demands. I am against my daughter going overnight during mid week due to her school routine etc. He receives plenty of contact anyways half teh holidays and every other weekend plus a mid week evening break. I've always been fair with contact even when I was receiving £0.00 for 15 month.
My ex pays £2000 worth of school fees per month which will increase as they get older. His wife does not work, they go on holidays twice a year amounting to at least £10,000. I've been there done that, went to Tribunal but had no proof and case was dismissed. How does the CSA expect me to obtain proof I'm not a private investigator! Why can't they investigate my ex, phone his employer, find out what shifts he is doing, look at his bank statements, investigate his properties under his parent's name. ITS SO FRUSTRATING!!! My ex's income just seems to be decreasing over the years when his responsibilities are increasing. Figures just don't add up. CSA say we cannot make you ex take on more work and increase his income! I know all this I just want the truth and my daughter to get the same rights as his other children.
I am happy for you to add my name to you list.
Many Thanks0 -
I am a PWC whose NRP pays nothing at all because he's self employed and has 'no income'. But on that zero income, can afford holidays abroad, weekend breaks once or twice a month, can afford to go out every weekend (leaving the children he only sees fortnightly with a sitter!) and afford 2 new motorbikes and 3 new cars in the last 3 years.Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0
